The news media frequently reports stories of data breaches by major companies. These reported breaches are just the tip of the iceberg and represent only a small percentage of the actual breaches that go unreported or unpublicized.
With cybersecurity and data privacy presenting extraordinary hurdles for businesses of all sizes and across all industries, this presentation is intended to explain what cybersecurity is and how financial services institutions can begin to protect themselves from ever evolving cybersecurity threats. The law of cybersecurity and data privacy sets forth various requirements and best practices that financial services institutions must or should follow in order to mitigate risks, cybersecurity attacks and the damages and fines resulting from an attack. The panel will discuss these laws, best practices, and tips for mitigation in providing an introduction to the current state of cybersecurity and data privacy and suggestions to be incorporated in the lending process.
