When you support the CFA Education Foundation, you’re supporting the ongoing development of education, benchmarking data and awareness of the asset-based lending and factoring industries.

FORMED in 1990

The Education Foundation has become an integral part, not only of the Commercial Finance Association, but of the asset-based lending industry.

The Commercial Finance Association is the national trade association for financial institutions which provide asset-based financing and factoring services to commercial borrowers. The nearly 240 member lenders of CFA include substantially all of the major money-center bank, regional banks and other large and small commercial lenders and factors engaged in asset-based lending and factoring (commercial loans typically secured by business assets). CFA members provide financing to businesses on an international, national, regional, and local scale, throughout the world. Financing by CFA members comprises a substantial portion of the United States credit market, exceeding $300 billion in outstanding loans. Many CFA members also provide asset based financing outside the United States. Revolving loans and other extensions of credit by CFA members under credit agreements exceed $2 trillion annually.

Over the years, the Education Foundation has been supported, not only financially, but with the time and talent of some of the more significant institutions and individuals in the industry, in particular, the consultants, accountants, field examiners, appraisers and lawyers that are a critical part of the day-to-day business of commercial finance.

Thanks to such support, the Education Foundation has been essential in funding, among other things:

The Education Foundation has given those of us in the industry an opportunity to give back to it and to assist in its growth and development. We also receive significant publicity and access to the leaders at the member institutions as a result of our involvement in the Education Foundation. Through our support of the Education Foundation, we have come to be known for our support for the industry.

As we begin a new campaign year, it is exciting to have this new website as another resource for CFA members, members of the boards of the Foundation and others that contribute to its mission.

The Critical Importance of the CFA Education Foundation

Charlie Johnson, CFA's Education Foundation Advisor highlights the mission of the Foundation

The CFA Education Foundation is the exclusive source of funding in support of research and development for the asset-based lending and factoring industries’ knowledge base. Numerous courses, seminars, publications, studies and more would not be possible without the consistent contributions of the Foundation’s many generous donors year after year.

CFA founded the publicly supported CFA Education Foundation, Inc. in 1990 for the purpose of funding educational and research programs for the asset-based financial services industry. The Foundation is funded principally through grants and contributions from industry service providers including accountants, appraisers, attorneys, MIS vendors, turnaround consultants and managers, and other individuals and businesses with close ties to the asset-based financing industry, as well as from CFA members and employees. Foundation contributions are deductible as charitable gifts pursuant to applicable provisions of the Internal Revenue Code.
